The pear-shapes bottle is the result of the earliest production of tin-glazed earthenware which was developed in Delft in the 17th century. The model and decoration shows the living interest in the Chinese porcelain which was shipped to the Republic of Netherlands by the VOC. While the export from China was aborted due to the civil wars, the immitation in of porcelain grew to the highest level in Delft. The slightly grey font shows a delicate blue decoration depicting an Oriental garden with three figures in the manner of Wan Li porcelain.
