A Chinese Export leather covered camphorwood trunk, brass bound, studded and painted with poloychrome leaf and flower.
The sides with handles. These kind of cases were made in China for the Western (Dutch) market and are sometimes mounted with the initials of the former owner. This one is very rare because of his red color and flowerdecoration.
The timber of campherwood is soft and spongy with a grey colour and a strong smell.
