A very early Blue and White Small Bottle in Dutch Delftware

This wonderfull flask is the result ot the earliest production of tin-glazed earthenware which was developed in Delft for over a century. The model en decoration shows the living interest in the Chinese porcelain that was shipped to the Republic of Netherlands by the VOC. While the export from China was aborted due to the civil wars, the immitation in of porcelain grew to the highest level in Delft. The slightly creamy font shows a delicate blue decoration depicting peony, blossoming branches, insects and birds.
