A LOUIS XIII MIRROR
Mirror caught in a very rare 17th century baroque frame of carved and gilt lindenwood. The slighty lobed frame is adorned with auricular ornaments on the corners under a rich decoration incorprating flower and foliate festoons.
This kind of frame was made during a very short period for mirrors as well as paintings, mostly portraits. Only a few of these frames have survived trought the centurys, amongst which the famous portrait of Prince Maurits at the Mauritshuismuseum in The Hague.
Surmounted by a coat of arms which is also flanked by two putti.
