A Pair Tobaccojars

The decoration on the ovoid body of these jars is quite rare. It depict an cartouche-like atmosfere as more usual on these kind of jars. But on these particular jars the cartouche is constructed with two mirrored rocaille-ornaments with hold a drapery. The sides are each flanked by the famous type of a pipe-smoking Indian by a standing by an tobaccojar. The centre of the 'cartouche' depicts the names of the flavours: Straasburg and Hannover. On the floor are some barrels with tobaccoleafs.
