A Louis XIV Burr Walnut Display Cabinet

Sold

  • An extraordinary early 18th century display cabinet in two sections
  • This particular display case or porcelain cabinet clearly shows the tide of the new Rococo style
  • The multi-curved and profiled top is gently crowned with a small shell as a crest
  • The curves of the top frame are reproduced in the tops of the two glass doors
  • The beveled sides of the upper cabinet are also glazed. The interior upholstered in white contains two shelves with contoured front. Between the upper cabinet and the lower cabinet, which are separate from each other, there is a highly profiled rail
  • The lower cabinet has two doors with a shelf behind them, which is rare since most porcelain cabinets have drawers. The doors are each with a rectangular panel, on which there is a contoured profile border. The beveled sides also have panels bordered by moldings.
